Be a DTE Board Member?
March 2014
DTE is looking for some talented and committed new board members to assist in our organisational governance.
We are looking for three new board members in the areas of financial management (treasurer), personnel and HR management, and communications.
DTE has campaigned on environmental issues and ecological justice in Indonesia since 1988. We work with partners in Indonesia and internationally to promote climate justice and sustainable livelihoods in Indonesia.
We act as a two-way information bridge between Indonesia and Europe for research and analysis, advocacy and capacity-building.
The organisation currently focusses on campaigning in relation to extractives - particularly coal, agrofuels, climate change, and top-down natural resource exploitation in Papua.
Ideally you will have knowledge of Indonesia and be passionate about the rights of communities to preserve their natural resource rights in the face of encroachment and abuses on the part of business and government. Our board of directors (trustees) play a key role in the governance of DTE, ensuring sound management, active leadership within a system of checks and balances, setting clear strategic direction, ensuring financial and human resource management, and that the ultimate beneficiaries remain at the heart of the organisation's thinking and endeavours.
The roles will entail attending four board meetings per year (held during the day in London), and in-between support of the coordinator and occasionally, other staff, in relation to the particular role on the board for which you are recruited – mostly working at a distance.
If you feel you have the relevant skills and enthusiasm, the time to commit, and are willing regularly to attend board meetings, we invite you to follow the links below and email Catherine Scott to apply.
Closing date for expressions of interest 15th May 2014.
